Using the BrDR Migration Wizard
BrDR Migration Wizard
Follow this procedure to migrate an existing BrDR database that is version 7.0 or newer to the latest version of BrDR.
Instructions
The AASHTOWare BrDR Database Migration Wizard 7.X (Migration Wizard) is used.
1. Before migrating a BrDR database, we strongly recommend taking a database backup first!
2. Run the Migration Wizard (Start, AASHTOWare, DesignRating, Migration Wizard 7.X).
3. The first window displays the supported migrations. If you do not see the type of migration you need listed, please contact BrDR Support.
4. After selecting the appropriate target database version, click next.
5. The Migration Wizard no longer uses ODBC to connect to the database. It now connects natively using the information provided.
6. Select the appropriate ‘Connection Type’, and enter the required information.
NOTE: You must connect as the Schema/Database owner, or if using SQL Server, a user with the db_owner role.
7. After entering/selecting the required information, click Next.
8. A new feature of the Migration Wizard is a more robust Database Validation module. This will validate your database schema (including tables, columns, foreign keys and indexes).
9. If you see any errors or warnings, please contact BrDR Support.
Note: To expedite the support process, please provide the full Migration Log and Schema Validation files. These can be found in the “\Documents\AASHTOWare\MigrationWizardLogs” folder of the user who ran the Migration Wizard, and will be named something like “MigrationLog_20221011164105.log” and “ValidationSchema_20221011164108.dvx” respectively.
10. After clicking “Next”, the following screen will display:
11. Confirm that the displayed information is correct, and then click “Next”.
12. The Migration Wizard will now migrate your database to the selected version. Any errors will be logged.
13. If migrating an Oracle database, the application will prompt you to choose if you would like the application to create the required Public Synonyms.
